FBI arrests Carnival Cruise Waiter for the Alleged Sexual Assault of a 14-yr-old Minor

December 15, 2011 - Kert Clyde Jordan worked as a waiter aboard the Carnival Liberty cruise ship until his recent arrest for the alleged rape of a 14-yr old girl during a cruise last month.

According to the FBI, the girl was aboard the Liberty on a cruise with her family last month, between October 29-November 5, 2011. Just before midnight on the final night of the cruise, Jordan encountered the girl on the Lido (upper) deck of the ship. Although she told him that she was only 14 years old, he allegedly engaged in sexual acts with her in a cruise ship bathroom for nearly 2 hours.

The child told her mother about the assault the next day after they returned home. The young girl received medical attention and police were notified. The FBI in South Florida was brought into the case on November 9.

Ten days later the FBI boarded the cruise ship and questioned Jordan—a 35 yr. old native of Grenada—who waived his Miranda rights. Jordan told the FBI that he recognized the girl from the cruise, and acknowledged that she told him that she was only 14. He also admitted to having sexual acts with the minor and taking photographs of her with his cell phone.

The 14-year old girl's case is now being handled by the cruise ship rape lawyers at the Miami-based firm of Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Winkleman, P.A.
